Burckardt Consulting delivers software and IT projects for organisations that can't afford to get them wrong. We're based in Gqeberha, work across South Africa and its neighbours, especially Namibia, and take on projects from English- and German-speaking countries further afield.
Thomas Burckardt, Managing Director
Thomas began his career in software development in Germany in the early days of the personal computer and soon moved into leadership roles. After a decade in the European IT industry he came to South Africa, where he has spent three decades building and running technology businesses in the Eastern Cape: first in business systems and training, then in point-of-sale and stock control for retail and hospitality, and since 1995 as founder of the software company Synapsis Software. Burckardt Consulting grew out of that experience as a dedicated home for private-sector clients.
How we're organised, and why it matters to you
Burckardt Consulting has no offices to maintain and no payroll to keep busy. For each project Thomas assembles a virtual team of trusted developers, specialists and partners, with exactly the skills the project needs, and stays personally accountable from the first conversation to the annual review.
Running a large team taught him something uncomfortable: when you have a payroll to meet, the client's best interest and the company's interest don't always point the same way. The lean model removes that conflict. You pay for expertise, not overheads, and the advice you get is the advice that's right for you.
